As a programming hobby, I was playing around with a script to solve sudoku puzzles in a new way (with probabilities). This ultimately failed, but in the process I had built a program to generate new sudoku puzzles from scratch. The project was on the backburner for a while, but one day, it hit me: I could use my sudoku generator to make not just random sudokus, but personalized ones: a sudoku with a specific date inside it! Wouldn’t it be great to receive a birthday card in the mail, and when you open it: there’s a sudoku with your birth date in the centre! And … it’s an actual puzzle that you can go and solve. Later, I realized that you could replace the numbers in a sudoku by letters, and design word-sudokus with all kinds of messages on them. So that’s what I’m adding in the near future: a sudoku for Christmas, a sudoku for a friend who is ill, a sudoku with your name on it, the possibilities are endless!
