I have sewn needlepoint belts for my family and friends for over 35 years. When I decided to make my passion my job, I had to figure out what products to sell. Needlepoint is costly, time consuming and labor intensive. Cuff links seemed to fit the bill. They have a small surface area and can be personalized. I created a hybrid of counted cross stitch techniques with my love of needlepoint stitching. Using 25 count Lugana fabric, I am able to needlepoint my designs and leave the background area alone. Using an upholster's press and die, I am able to finish my designs and create custom needlepoint cuff links. Experimenting with other die sizes, I have begun to make needlepoint key chains, needlepoint cuffs, needlepoint lapel pins and needlepoint necklaces. I have DIY kits on the horizon, too.
