This store was the brainchild of two people who grew up in a small town in central Louisiana called Simmesport. Simmesport sits on the banks of the Atchafalaya River just seven miles from its beginning. The culture here is predominately French, but there is also a mix of German, African/Carribean, Italian, Scottish and Native American. The French spoken here is a mix of all these cultures and developed uniquely from European French. Avoyelles Parish, in which Simmesport resides, was settled mainly by French people, many of whom fought in the Napoleonic Wars in Europe.
