“During that week, March 2014, I found my neurosurgeon, Dr. Hill, who figured out, that all my pain and the pelvic bone sticking out was caused from my SI Joint disintegrating." "He also found out that I had problems with my spine. I had bone growth over the L4-L5 and the L5-S1 disc was not only compressed on my spinal cord, but I also had a tear in one of the discs. This was causing me to drag my foot, which is also called drop foot, or foot drop.” Foot drop is a gait abnormality in which the dropping of the forefoot happens due to weakness, irritation or damage to the common fibular nerve including the sciatic nerve, or paralysis of the muscles in the anterior portion of the lower leg. “With all these medical issues, I am no longer able to drive, I cannot wear heels anymore, I only wear sneakers with a brace to help my drop foot ankle so I do not break it, I wear only soft material clothing, which consists of sweats or pjs. If I go anywhere I have to have someone drive me, I have to make sure I have my pain meds, because sitting or standing for more than 15 at a time is excruciating pain, I ride around in a scooter if we do go somewhere, because most seats are too uncomfortable, I sleep on a number of pillows with ice packs. My daily life has changed dramatically, I have to use a handicap shower chair and toilet seat, I need help getting dressed, I take 15 pills a day. I cry every day in pain.” She desperately needs a permanent device to help stabilize her pain so that she can live a more normal life. Unfortunately, no insurance will help cover the cost and there are no payment plans available. Every dollar helps bring Kathy closer to some much needed relief. Please purchase a keychain for Kathy!
