À propos

A few summers ago, I decided to try my hand at watercolor pencils. I started with the goal of painting 100 animals of all varieties—ones from different classes, both living and extinct, even imagined ones like cryptids—but all sharing slightly mischievous smiles. I scanned each one and started to arrange them digitally in tableaus against landscape elements like trees and rocks. I noticed that these tableaus, if repeated and looked at from a distance, vaguely resembled traditional French toile de jouy fabrics, especially if I made all the colors monochromatic by using software. After making several animal-themed toiles, I tried other designs such as flowers in the style of Indian block prints, stripe patterns featuring single animals, and arrangements featuring my dog, Doris. I upload my work to sites like Spoonflower and Zazzle so they can be printed on fabric, wallpaper, stationery, and home goods. I hope these bring smiles to your faces and inspire you to create art yourself, no matter your skill level or experience!
