Juan G. Martinez is a local Austin artist originally hailing from Laredo, Texas. Predominantly a surrealist he decided to pursue a career in body modification during his school days. Tattooing only being another medium to conquer he decided to seek out an apprenticeship. After attempting to find an apprenticeship in Laredo and finding no artist who was willing to take him in he decided to move to Austin, Texas (the tattoo Mecca of the U.S.) Moving to Austin was a spur of the moment deal, literally making the decision the night before moving. Upon showing up in Austin he began hopping from tattoo parlor to tattoo parlor looking for that apprenticeship that was so close yet so far. After a year of searching and working on the side he finally came across an artist who agreed to take him on as a student. Today he is currently apprenticing at The Republic of Texas Tattoo in Austin Tx.
