William Boyer started painting as a child winning a newspaper art contest at the age of seven. His acrylic paintings reflect scenes from around his home in Florida and trips to Michigan and the Smoky Mountains with its beautiful streams and rivers. Inspired by his travels throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Spain and Brazil, William has taken over 15,000 photographs for references and ideas to paint. Much of William’s work is acrylic landscapes on canvas using traditional paint and brushes. The paintings range from miniatures (2 inches by 3 inches) to murals or wall paintings (8 feet by 12 feet). Williams abstract acrylic paintings are a unique method of hand painting. Inspired by Salvador Dali’s style of Surrealism and combined with Peter Max’s stars and stripes with bright colors. When William was challenged to original and stop using brushes or knives, a series of abstract paintings were created. Using only his fingers and paint one of a kind paintings emerged. Yes, acrylic “Abstract Adult Finger Painting” One three day weekend Mr. Boyer painted more than one hundred abstract finger paintings. The paintings were drying in every room of his house including the basement and garage. Everything he looked at turned into a painting and all he could think about was painting. The “Abstract Adult Finger Painting” style emerged. William calls this weekend experience “The Savant Weekend”. William is a self-taught artist and for the past ten years has produced at least one painting per week. His paintings have been sold in the United States and more than ten other countries. Mr. Boyer received his Masters degree from Eastern Michigan University and has worked as an Artist, Engineer and Teacher.
