For over fifty years, Wade College has inspired individuals to lead meaningful careers in design and merchandising. In 2017, a new era begins with the launch of the institution's new programs in information technology.
Founded by Sue Wade in 1962 with only ten students in Dallas, Texas, Wade College originally offered day and evening classes in fashion merchandising and professional modeling. In 1965, the growing institution moved from its Turtle Creek location to its current Dallas Market Center address, and in 1971, the curriculum shifted to full-time programs in merchandising and design. As graduates found success, the faculty expanded, and the library’s holdings increased, Wade College was granted accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges in 1985.
Today, Wade College offers associate and bachelor degrees in fashion design and product development, interior design, merchandise marketing and management, and information technology. The college provides a solid general education curriculum, designed to introduce major areas of knowledge and to stimulate individual interests in specialized fields. Students benefit enormously from the college’s location within the Dallas INFOMART and the Dallas Market Center complex, which offer the ideal professional environments for individuals seeking industry experience and early exposure to the merchandising, design and/or information technology industries. Professors have diverse backgrounds and professional experience. The college’s curriculum, location, and faculty contribute to the college’s goal of nurturing and challenging each student’s intellectual and professional development.
