Carte Scottish Clan Grant Urquhart Castle Christmas

Pretty Loch Ness scene in Scotland features the ancient home of Clan Grant. Does the famous “Nessie” lurk in the waters overlooked by Grant Tower of Urquhart Castle, former home of the Grant clan? Tourists hoping for a glimpse of the mysterious also tour the ancient of this popular destination in northern Scotland on the banks of Loch Ness and just 13 miles, give or take, from the Highland capital of Inverness. The property was awarded to the Grant clan in 1509 and was often invaded by the Earls of Ross of the MacDonald clan. The current structure dates from the 13th to 16th centuries and once featured a drawbridge and ditch for defense. The property figured prominently in the Scottish Wars of Independence and the Jacobite uprisings.
