I am enchanted by the flow of color in water. Although I've painted for 10+ years, I find I am a perennial beginner. I like discovering what happens when my brush touches the paper. If the paper is already wet, the color explodes like a firework – expanding in all directions. I like that there are infinite possibilities for textures, shapes, compositions, and so forth. What eludes me is painting realistically – and I admire those with that talent. It is what happens as I paint that engages me, seeing how the paintings evolve before my eyes, without starting with a finished product in mind. I like feeling an emotional reaction to paintings I view; and I hope some of my own emotions are transferred from my heart to the paper I am working on.
